Baby gift

I know I posted something about bibs and burp cloths in the past, but these turned out just so cute, I had to give them a little credit here:

Jenean Morrison's Moondance fabric above

I lined these bibs and burp cloths with white chenille, which is soooooo soft lovely, perfect for baby's sensitive skin:

I found an old baby bib and used that as a pattern for these.

Along with these bibs and burp cloths, I made....another hat. An adorable baby hat with a leaf on top! You could find the pattern (Greenleaf baby hat) on Ravelry.

Yarn: Mission Falls 1824 super wash in green.

I have a ton of this yarn - it's beautiful and great for so many knitting projects. AND a bonus is that there was a BASKET full of this yarn on sale at the LYS for buy 1get 1 free. At a sale price of $3.25 a skein, 85yards - I couldn't pass it up.

Isn't that a cute baby gift, wouldn't you want one as a gift??

knitted things

I had put the knitting needles away when the weather got warm and the sewing picked up, but now am feeling the itch to knit again. It must be the cool air and the feeling of coziness we all crave when the air cools down, I love it. I had a brief moment of panic when we had a chilly day and I realized I didn't have mittens or hats that fit the kids (or ones that they would wear). Not a real reason to panic, I realize, but nonetheless it fueled my need to pick up the knitting needles. I made this pixie hat for the girl, found the pattern here on Ravelry.

Mr. Bear, modeling the pixie hat. He is the most cooperative model I've worked with!

My little girlie wanted a hat in orange, really because her older brother LOVES the color orange, and when it was completed, she decided she didn't like it, I mean REALLY didn't like it. Oh dear, the wiley ways of a 2 year old. It will be passed on as a gift to my nephew.

I also started a pumpkin hat with Mission Falls superwash in orange for a friend of mine who just had a baby boy, it's so tiny! I just have to get myself to the yarn store to pick up some green yarn for the stem part. I am holding myself back since I usually walk out of yarn stores with way too much yarn that I didn't intend to buy, but feeling very happy and inspired!

Here is the completed pumpkin hat.....10/18....

love it!

So, you ask, did my panic really fuel my need to keep my kids warm, or other people's kids' warm? I guess mine will just have to manage!
