Snuggly blankets

I made these blankets from Prudent Baby a couple of months ago and they have become a staple that the kids use and look for on a daily basis.

Elena loves Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do You See? by Eric Carle and reads the book to herself in her crib. I love listening to her make up the words and copy my intonation!

I purchased this Brown Bear fabric here, and used a flannel minky blanket that I picked up at Marshalls  the back. The blanket was a queen/full size, 90x90. I cut it into four equal squares and made blankets for my nephews as well, so that each blanket was approximately 45x45. You could purchase minky flannel on line or at your local fabric store, but it tends to be a bit pricey. I got the blanket for $15.

Frankie's truck blanket is all boy, I love it! I purchased this cotton fabric at our local discount fabric store  a while back. He plays with his cars on it and pretends that the scene is a city. It's great - a blanket, and a couple of matchbox cars equal hours (ok, an hour or so) of entertainment!

A new backpack

Frankie and his cousin have started doing Tae Kwon Do at a local arts center near us. My sister takes the two older boys one afternoon a week and I get to play with the two babies (ok, 2 year olds). I decided to make the older ones these drawstring backpacks to put their uniforms in and keep their stuff organized for when it's time to go:

I got two yards of ribbon trim for each back pack, but probably could've made it a bit longer.

There's always a stuffed animal or two thrown in for good luck!

I got the idea from Prudent Baby. I made it a bit bigger to fit more things inside. It was such a quick and easy project! It definitely took less than an hour to make both!
