My girlfriends from college and I meet up yearly for a weekend away together. There are seven of us, one missing this year (we missed you, Barb!) due to impending childbirth. We've missed a year or two, mainly because of poor planning, but for the most part, we are committed to each other and to having this special time together. There truly is a rhythm we fall into when we're together, like our friendships haven't skipped a beat. A way and rhythm that reminds me of our youthful, carefree days of college. This is the 4th year we've done this and every time we part, I always look forward to the next one.
This year we chose to go to the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. A somewhat central location for most of us. Travel was no more than a couple of hours by plane, train or automobile.
Our time together is so relaxed. There is no agenda and minimal planning to our days. We try and catch some sights, but most of the time we sit around, enjoy good conversation, food and drink and listen to each other whole heartedly.
Our drink of choice has changed quite a bit over the years....probably for the best!
There's a great vibe out in the Berkshires, filled with some great art and whole living. We were able to check out some antiques.
There were two impressive yarn stores that we stopped in to as well - I should say, that my gals got dragged to!
One was in Stockbridge, MA called Wonderful Things
And the other, in Lenox, MA Colorful Stitches
Both had an unbelievable selection of yarns, beautifully displayed.
I feel forever blessed to have this time together, and can't wait to see where next year will take us!
